Tri-Day Ashlyn: 73 EX daughters worldwide

Tri-Day Ashlyn EX-96, dam of 73 EX daughters.

Tri-Day Ashlyn is the cow with the most EX daughters in breed history. When Tri-Day Ashlyn EX-96 won the Canadian Royal and the World Dairy Expo in the same year, she became one of the unusual cows to ever win two national championships. She went on to be a very successful flush cow for Kingsmill in North Carolina before selling to St Jacobs-ABC. Ashlyn then completed her career at Siemers’ in Wisconsin.. Her achievement in generating 73 EX daughters is unprecedented, and it is unlikely to be broken very soon!

Ashlyn was bought by Christi Crutch and Adrienne of West Virginia’s Oseeana Holsteins when they went back to Pennsylvania’s Tri-Day. Ashlyn and Adeen were bred by David Day and are the offspring of Bendy-Brook Odyssey Favorite. Marcrest Encore, a son of Starbuck, is the sire. Including 13 daughters sired by Encore, Favorite finally had 22 classified, 16 of whom scored EX. Stormatic was the winner of the golden cross, with scores of 96, 95, and EX-94. Her highest-scoring offspring is EO-Siemers Ashlyn Angel EX-96.

Ernie Kueffner of Maryland helped Ashlyn launch her career when she was only two years old. After her time at Kingsmill ended, she continued her career as a profitable flush cow for St. Jacobs-ABC and Siemers’ in Wisconsin. With outcomes like a 96, two at 95, and two more at EX-94, the golden cross with Stormatic was clearly a show-stopper.

38 Ashlyn daughters, many with Kingsmill surnames, scored EX in Canada. In the UK, EK-Oseeana Ashlyn’s Alure EX-91 is the mother of the well-known Shottle son Woodmarsh Asterix, who sired almost 4,000 daughters and had an impressive look, rating EX-97. Mark and Susan Nutsford’s Riverdane herd has notable descendants, including Gold Chips and Golddust.
