In Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” Jaques says: “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players ….and one man in his time plays many parts.” If that is true, then no man has played the part of “International Friend” better than, Russell Gammon.
Russell is one of an elite group known throughout the world by his first name. When he walks into a room; it is “lighten-up” by force of personality, humour and engaging charm. The mere mention of his name is spoken with a smile. For 30 years, prior to joining Semex Alliance in 2011, Russell was employed by Jersey Canada – and has straddled the world stage like a giant Colossus – shining the “guiding light” for the Jersey breed.
He has travelled to over a dozen countries and reached-out as a friend, a confidant, a source of immense knowledge and sage-wisdom. Russell has enthused generations of breeders; his name is synonymous with the breed. Think of Jerseys – think of Russell. Both are inter-twined. A man of many gifts; a man of integrity, an inspiration, an icon, a “hero” – a true Ambassador for the Jersey breed as well as, an Ambassador for Canada.
However, Russell’s most important gift is that of “time.” Time is priceless. A commodity that cannot be bought – but a gift, freely given in the true spirit of international friendship and humanitarianism. Russell Gammon, International Friend of the Year: A world player; and man of many parts.
