Modesto Junior College Dominates 34th International Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

Modesto Junior College did it again. They did more than compete in the 34th International Post-Secondary Dairy Cattle Judging Contest in Madison, Wisconsin; they dominated. If you’ve ever questioned the quality of their dairy program, this should put that to rest.

Can you believe it? They won the Overall Team, Overall Reasons Team, High Individual, and High Individual Reasons awards. It wasn’t a one-person show either. Logan Silveira, Lauryn Young, Jon Chapman, and Teresa Sousa performed outstandingly. Congratulations to their coach, Nicole Morris, for leading them to victory.

“This win is a testament to our team’s hard work, dedication, and top-notch training,” stated Nicole Morris, the winning team’s head coach. “Our students showed exceptional skill and teamwork, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Who finished in second? SUNY Cobleskill, another strong candidate, followed soon after. Their squad, coached by coach Carrie Edsall, also showed remarkable potential. They were seven points behind Modesto Junior College, demonstrating the intense battle.

Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute, Michigan State Ag Tech, and Morrisville completed the top five. Let us remember the winners of the Practical Contest. Ohio State ATI took the top rank, followed by Iowa State University and Kansas State University.

How did they get such great results? Hard effort, preparedness, and a robust support system played essential roles. Lauryn Young of Modesto Junior College won the top individual slot with a score of 783. But it wasn’t just her; the whole staff delivered consistently high-quality results, owing to superb training and extensive understanding.
