The fifth consecutive victory of Llinde Ariel Jordan (SAT Ceceño, Cantabria) claiming the title of CONAFE National Grand Champion Cow at the 44º Spanish Holstein Show CONAFE 2024, held on Saturday, September 28thin Gijón (Asturias), establishes this remarkable animal into the annals of Spanish National Holstein Show history with its five-time Grand National Cow Champion titles. This accomplishment is not only unprecedented but also potentially very challenging to emulate. Among the 193 contenders presented by 59 Spanish Holstein breeders and judged by Italian Giusseppe Beltramino, Ariel distinguished herself, triumphing over Rey 1066 Chief Bruna (Rey de Miñotelo, Lugo, Galicia), CONAFE Grand Champion Reserve, and Venturo Happen Rosani (Casa Venturo, Asturias), which earned an Honorable Mention. Casa Flora (Asturias) garnered the title of Best Cow Breeder, while Cudaña from Cantabria claimed the Second Best Breeder title. In a swap of accolades, Cudaña also achieved Best Cow Herd, with Casa Flora as the Second Best.
National Champion of Calves and Heifers
This edition of the Spanish National Show commenced with the calves and heifers classes, held in the morning. The accolades for Best Herd and Best Calves and Heifers Breeder went to Rey de Miñotelo (Lugo, Galicia), while Casa Venturo (Asturias) received the Second Best Herd and Second Best Breeder awards. The title of National Champion of Calves and Heifers was awarded to S.A.T. Rey de Miñotelo (Lugo, Galicia) with Rey 1273 Haxl Bambi. The National Champion Reserve was bestowed upon Venturo Haxl Rosek (Casa Venturo, Asturias).
Calves and Red Cows Championships
This year, the Calves and Red Cows Championships celebrated its third iteration. In the Red Calves and Heifers Championships, Cantabria’s Casa Venturo clinched the Champion title with Venturo Rompen Halawi Red. The judge selected Oyambre Canela Rompen Red (S.A.T. Cabo Oyambre, Cantabria) as the Red Calves and Heifers Champion Reserve. In the National Championship of Red Cows, Sarobefarm Warrior Izane Roja (Sarobefarm, Bizkaia, Basque Country) was crowned National Champion Red Cow, and Ferreiro Rocío Jordy Red Roja (Casa Cid, Lugo, Galicia) attained the Champion Reserve title. The Best Autonomy Award was won by Cantabria, with Asturias close behind. Giusseppe Beltramino chose Adrián Entrecanales (Cantabria), Germán Fernández (Cantabria), and Alberto Iglesia (Galicia) in succession as the top showmanships.
