How will Holstein USA’s new policy affect your top-performing cows? Check to see whether your herd passes the new 95-point criterion now.
Holstein Association USA is changing the requirements for cows to score EX-95. Beginning August 1, 2024, cows looking to achieve EX-95 status will no longer have to be a minimum age to score 95 points but rather have had four normal calvings (full-term pregnancies) to score 95 points. This is a change from the previous three calvings. The minimum age for a cow to get this score has been abolished. This change rewards those cows who can shorten the time between calvings and start their productive life at a younger age. The requirements for scores of 96 and 97 remain unchanged.
