Cogent Introduces High Performing Sires in August 2016 Proof Run

Cogent-logo-web700-300x123[1]Cogent Breeding’s dairy genomic offering has strengthened its leading position in the latest bull proofs published by AHDB Dairy. 

Adding five; new, young Holstein sires to the line-up. All sires are in excess of £616 PLI.  Bred and selected with the British dairy farmer in mind, these sires excel in essential traits to help drive profit on farm. They add to the already impressive line up of bulls in the Cogent stud, the vast majority of which are also available as sexed semen.

From the company that brought you Cogent Supershot, Cogent are pleased to introduce three exceptional sons; Dock Conor, an elite GTPI and PLI (£661) a Supershot son, bred from an outstanding VG86 2yr Mogul daughter, who has been bred from the same family as Solid-Gold Colby.  Conor is a high milk sire (799kgs) with very high combined fat and protein (56.4kgs) high fertility (7.1) and a type linear that will create perfectly balanced, moderate sized cows (stature +0.22).

From Cogent’s new Jetstream association, they now offer Endco Superhero, a UK PLI genomic leader at £723 PLI with high milk (808kgs) and components as well as outstanding fertility (10.7), lifespan (0.7) and type (2.77) many of these traits stem from the prolific, Clear-Echo M-O-M 2150 cow family.

The third of the trio is the health trait specialist, Resto LRH Licorshot, who traces his lineage back through the Chassity cow family. Licorshot, at £616 PLI, offers huge improvements for Fertility (7.3) lifespan (0.6) and SCC (-25) whilst still improving production (574kgs Milk)

Other highlights include the Olympian son, DG Brody RDC who continues to impress as an elite red carrier sire since his launch in June.  His outstanding Type (3.09) PLI (£604) and fertility (12) make Brody RDC one of the most sought after red carriers globally.

Also, firmly strengthening his position in the rankings is Wintersell Demon, who offers high PLI (£626) and great improvements for fat (0.17%) and protein (0.16%)
Demon’s dam is a maternal sister to Wintersell Milo, one of the most popular proven bulls ever to come from the Cogent stud.

OH DG Maximus is also welcomed into the line-up; combining huge production (936kgs) and positive fat (0.05%) which makes him one of the breed leaders for combined fat and protein (70.9kgs)  Maximus also has high PLI (£632) high lifespan (0.5) and positive for fertility (2.7) creating a solid all-rounder.
For conformation, Maximus daughters are expected to be medium in stature (0.45) with sloping rumps (1.52) good udders (1.77) and exceptional locomotion (1.54).  Maximus is also expected to be popular with farms looking to increase efficient milk production.

From their stud in Canada, Cogent are pleased to add Oconnors Soccer Ball P RDC, a new sire that is set to appeal to farmers looking for polled genetics.  He is one of the highest PLI (£614) polled bulls on the market and has a lot to offer as a big yield improver (939kgs) he also has an impressive weight of combined fat and protein (53.1kgs) and exceptional Fertility (9.2) making him a bull that is going to be in high demand across the globe.
Soccer Balls’ cow family is the globally recognised, Glen Drummond S family and his 3rd dam is the global icon Des-Y-Gen Planet Silk EX90.
