Borderway Global Classic Sale Results

The Global Classic Sale is one of the big attractions during UK Dairy Expo week. It plays an important role in the philosophy of the whole event with the aim to market and promote the best UK genetics to a National as well as, a Global audience. The ring side was packed with buyers from across the Globe with fifteen Nationalities represented it really was a wonderful opportunity to show the world what the UK has to offer in the line of Elite dairy genetics.

Redsky Fidelity Cherry Red – 4,500gns

Topping the trade on the night was Redsky Fidelity Cherry Red consigned by Paragon Pedigree Herds. She was sired by Delta Fidelity an outcross Kian son and bred from Charity VG87 a top index cow in Germany. Charity is full sister to the proven sire Serano in Germany and also full sister to the number 1 Index Cow in Luxembourg Cleo. Her first son also sired by Delta Fidelity is currently on test at Masterrind. Redsky Fidelity Cherry Red sold for 4,500gns joining the herd of A Allison, Macnairston Farm, Ayrshire.

 

Inspired Glenn Destiny – 4,000gns

One of the pedigrees in the catalogue that attracted much of the attention was that of Inspired Glenn Destiny consigned by Brown Swiss Genetics. She was a daughter of the unavailable Schamaun BS Gord Glenn and bred from Hilltop Acres Z Divinity EX92 2E full sister to the proven sire Hilltop Acres Z Digger. This pedigree boosted three generations with yields over 13,000kgs over 4.5% butterfat and over 3.5% protein with yields peaking at just over 17,000kgs. Destiny sold for 4,000gns to I. Broomfield, Armagh, N. Ireland.

Also selling for 4,000gns was the highest genomic heifer in the sale, New Abbey Shamrock Pledge with a GTPI+2210 PTAT+2.92 NM 597. She was sired by Lady-Manor PL Shamrock and bred from Holmland Man O Man Polly VG87 2yr grand-daughter of the All American Windy-Knoll-View Pledge EX95. She sold with embryo contracts to Diamond Genetics and now joins the herd of GT & L Spence, Lowfield Farm, Northallerton.

One of the sires in the Holstein breed that has captured the imagination of breeders across the globe has been Flevo Genetics Snowman son of the much admired Broeks MBM Elas EX90. Selling for 3,400gns was one of his daughters tracing back to Markwell Durham Daisy EX92 GMD DOM. Full sister to this stylish Snowman was sold during International Dairy Week in Australia this year for $17,000. Soothill Snow Maiden was consigned by K.C Oakes & Cutts and was purchased by JI & H Clarke, Omagh, N. Ireland. Her full sister was sold on choice selling for 2,800gns to G. Ogden, Pearsgill, Penrith.

Absolute Genetics consigned a number of word class pedigrees with one of their two year olds starting the sale as Lot 1. She was a Picston Shottle daughter from Canada’s most awarded Star Brood Cow La Presentation Daurel EX 57*. Absolute Shottle Petrelle had calved back in October was sold in calf to Pine-Tree Sid (sexed) giving 33kgs. She sold for 3,000gns to DR&HM Horsley, Woodhouse, Penrith.

Glyn Lucas from Harrison & Hetherington commented after the sale “it has been a wonderful week for British breeding with the success achieved out in Switzerland that saw UK cows winning the Intermediate Championship and Five year old class at the All European Championships. We have had visitors from all over the world in attendance tonight to watch some of our best genetics change hands, I feel it’s exciting to be involved in the industry at the minute and I’m looking forward to building and developing the market for Pedigree cattle in the future”
