Almacombe (James-Jesther) has been named the winner of the 2016 French “Cow of the Year”. In her 9th lactation the 11-year-old Almacombe produced 101,975kg milk with an average of 4.37% fat and 3.35% protein and 61,000 somatic cell. Almacombe is scored EX-93 and is owned by Jean-Bernard Girard. Finishing in 2nd place is Canne from Gaec Du Grenouillet. Canne, a Soca-Jelt daughter, was the 2nd highest producing cow in the competition, producing 86,607kg milk at 9 years of age. Finishing in 3rd place was another 9-year-old cow, Charmaine (Roumare-Titanic) owned by Gaec De L’Echelotte. Three other names concluding the top-6 placing cows are Gepsicombe by Mr Burns who is also owned by Jean-Bernard Girard, Delice 2C (High-Marion) and Iota-daughter Gedina.
